What Grade Should I Get In English?

What grade should I get in English class? That is a good question. This course was defiantly a hard one. With the NHD project and the constant test in math and science I never lacked in English so I deserve an “A”. I am always prepared, organized and ready for anything my teacher gives me. Although I am talkative, my grades and determination to pass this class out shines my behavior. My writing ability also adds to grade.
No matter the behavior or talking I still deserve an “A”. Nothing less. I am hard working. I’m not ordinary or average so an “A” and beyond is what I deserve in English.
Do you think I deserve an “A”?

Zora Neale Hurton

Zora Neale Hurton was born January 7, 1891 and died in January 28, 1960. Zora lived in Eatonville, Florida. Zora father was the mayor of Eatonville and the reverend. He was the reason Zora family didn’t experiences no poverty, like some black families experienced at Zora's age.
When Zora was nine her mother died. After her mother died reverend John remarried. Her father’s marriage caused her and her father to grow apart. She later left home to become a wardrobe girl for a company that toured down south. She quit eighteen months later and finished her high school studies at Morgan Academy. Howard University in Washington D. C. Zora later transferred to Banard College in New York City. This is where Zora became interested in black folk tradition. After Zora had graduated from Banard College she returned back to Florida to study the oral tradition. Her study resulted in her first book “Mules and Men’s” which she wrote in 1935.
Although Hurton’s success ended early, she still wrote plays, novels, short stories, and articles. Her most famous novel was also her second novel, “Their Eye’s Were Watching God” which she wrote in 1937. Zora Neale Hurton was described by Langston Hughes as “a women who was full of side-splitting, humorous tales, and tragicomic stories.” I would describe Zora as a bird that was able to soar and let her voice be heard no matter how she did it.

Is The Bible True?

Two things my mother told me to never discuss over dinner are religion and politics, because they are sure to start conflict. But in this case I’ll discuss religion but just not over dinner. Do you believe in the bible? Do you sometimes doubt what you read in the bible? Do you find truth in the bible? Well personally I believe in the bible, but I am ready to discuss the doubt that people have about the bible. People may doubt the bible because there are so many testaments; people question Christ existents, and non-believers in other religions.
Since I have been born there have been at least three new testaments of the bible. There are so many new testaments of the bible. There are so many new testaments people don’t know what to believe. Some lost faith and question the truth in the bible. The new testaments cause confusion to the older people who were raised on the Old Testament bible. These knew changes bring questions some unanswered on whether the bible is actually true.
Followed by the new testaments there are also questions on whether Christ is actually real. There are a lot of suspicions that comes from reading the bible. Some question the story about Virgin Mary. How can women become pregnant without any sexual activity and still be impregnated? This to some people is unreal. How can a women be labeled a “virgin” and have a baby. This unrealistic story leads up to the existence of Christ. Is the story to exaggerated is in unbelievable? Some say yes others think differently.
When I was young I was raised on the bible and to believe Christ was my savior, but in some homes and cultures people believe in different things. People raised on Buddha and Allah find the bible untrue. When you are born in a religion or join that religion you believe in something else. Like the people that question the bible other religions question Christ, but all in all we as people believe in some God whether it is Allah, Buddha, or Christ.
In conclusion, many may say Christ is not real neither is the bible, because of the unrealistic stories, the many questions, and those that don’t believe in Christ, but in this day and age who is to say what’s real because reality is sometimes as fake as a cartoon. Sometimes the only thing you can believe in is yourself so I ask you now, do you find truth in the bible?

Huckleberry Finn

Should Huckleberry Finn be read in school? No, Huckleberry Finn should not be allowed to be read by ninth graders in school. Huckleberry Finn contains bad language, gives off the wrong impression on life, and is too advanced for young readers.
In "The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn" it contains bad language. The inappropiate grammar, cussing, and racial slurring in the story do not help the children learn properly. The quote of the slave Jim shows broken down english and missed spell words."Yo' ole father doan' know yit what he's a- gwyne to do". This is a quote by Jim. In one sentence he misspelled over three words, how do you think our children are going to learn from such grammar? The racial slur of the narrator also contains bad language like the word "nigger". This is one reason why Huck Finn should be banned from young schools.
Another reason why "The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn" should not be read in CHS because of the advanced conflicts and topics. Some may believe that the dilemmas the main character faces are to mature for a 14 or 15 year old mind. In the book the character has a problem with drinking and does not go to school. Huck plays hookey with and drinks with his friend Tom. These things can kids the wrong impression making them think these things are cool.
My last reason for why this story should not be read in school because it gives off the wrong impression. The story broken english, degrades blacks, and make children believe it is okey to drink, and say nigger. This can make students think they can get away with these acts and let it be accepted because it's being taught in school. These things can be copied like the quote "monkey see monkey do" is a perfect example of what children will do.
In conclusion, Huck Finn should not be taught in school because of the bad language, wrong impressions, and maturity. Do you still think Huck Finn should be taught at your child's school?
