Service learning reflection

There was never a moment of frustration in our group. We are always on point and know what we are going to do. We have been having nothing but success in our group. We got over our money issues we have the survey complete and we are now preparing to make our buisness cards and information cards. Through service learning I learned more about child safety and silent killers.
Through service learning I have learned the following about myself: I learned that i am very interested in child safety. I never paid much attention to this but now I want to end all these obstacles that is affecting our children. I want to make sure all children will be safe and can be able to go outside or play in their homes and feel safe.

May 15th Reflection

May 15, 2008 was our first time going outside for service learning. We decided on places that is best to hand out our buisness cards, and flyers out ot the public. We decided on the park in center city, the McDonalds on 10th and Market, and the KB toys in the gallery. After we took a tour around these areas we went to get something to eat at Mcdonalds. While we were ordering our food we saw many things in mcdonalds that was not appropiate for children. There was small peices of trash laying on the floor. The seats were not right for young children, and the place was not clean or suitable for young children who put objects in their mouth. This made me more than ever want to get the information about child safety out to the parents.

May 9th Service Learning

We really made a progress this week in service learning today. We learned more about our topic. We learned about small things that can affect children. Like bee stings, allergies, and dust in house holds. We are now creating our buisness cards and our information cards. The informational cards will contain steps n what to do to perform CPR on your children, how to strap your child in correctly, how to use fist aid on a child who has a scar or was bit or stung by a bee. Our buisness cards will have the school phone number, fax number, FDA number, and other emergency contact numbers.
What I learned about myself from doing this service learning is Silent Killers in your house hold is very interesting to me. I find myself wanting to learn more about it outside school. It is something that makes you want to help people know about these silent killers.
I would not change any hting in my group. Everything is going good and there is nothing that needs changing.

Plans For Service Learning

My plans for service learning is to get more research on child safety. There is alot of problems that deals with children and their safety. Other plans my group had for the group was to create a informational magnet that contains numbers in case of an emergency. And i was also planning to visit a daycare and talk to them about their safety.
That is one way to get information out to the young so they can learn while their at that age.
