Community Service
At the beginning of community service I didn't know what I was going to do. But now I have completed about nine hours out of the 15. I decided to visit the local nursing home around my neighborhood were I read to the elders and play different games with them such as pitty pat, Bingo, and monopoly. It is a good experience. Sometimes if the elders are not for games we will sit discuss their lives and how they use to be. During each of my visits I learn something new, whether it is about life, or about a game. I almost always stay longer then I should but when you sit and talk with someone that has so much wisdom time runs right pass you. At the beginning of community service I didn't want to but now I am happy I got to.
Service Learning Meeting on Friday, April 25
On friday April 25, my group made a big progress. We came up with a solid idea on how to get imformation out about silent kilers. We decided on magnets. the magnets will contain information for the FDA, ambulance, Fire department, and other important contact information for children and families to use. We also got some ideas on the questions we want to use for our survey on child safety. We had about 10 appling questions we wanted to ask the public. I feel we will get our point across nicely. As we discussed our plans for for next time meeting we were split up in two groups: Child Safety and Lead. My group child safety discussed the many different accidents that surrounded the the lack of child safety. Like for example, children have overdosed because the medcine caps on pill bottles were not tight enough or the number of children dying from car accidents because the car seats were not fixed correctly or the child seat belts were not adjusted correctly. These were only a few topics we discussed. At the end of our meeting the two groups came back together and discussed each other topics and plans they had for getting information about silent killers out to the public.

Reflection on Service Learning For 4-17-08
Yesterday we discussed some of the research we can do to complete our goal of getting the information of silent killers out. We also discussed the main subjects we should study we chosed Child Safety in fall Smoke detectors in spring Carbon Monoxide in winter and Lead in summer. After a vote we decided to put them in that order. we then discussed what we had to do to prepare for our next meeting. Ms. Morson asked that we bring in one survey question and some research for a topic. When the meeting was over we chosed someone to bring next week snack in and was dismissed.

Reflection on Service Learning
I am in Ms. Morsons mentor group. We discuss the silent killers in our households like lead from paint, smoke detectors, monoxide, and radine. After we list the silent killers we went on to discuss ways to get the information out to those people who don't know the affects of these silent killers. some ideas my fellow classmates gave was hand out brochures, take a survey, put flyes in newspapers and magazines, put an ad in the newspaper and commericialize.one of the obstacles we face to put out the information was money. we are planing to findraise.
I have no more question on the mission or role in group ms. morson was very clear
